Begin by taking inventory
The best closet designs start with an honest look at what you own. How many hanging items are long, how many are short, how many shoes, bags, folded pieces and accessories need a home?
During your free consultation we go through this together. We measure the space, note ceiling heights, windows, vents and doors, and sketch how the pieces could be arranged so everything has a place and nothing is wasted.
We also ask about the people sharing the closet. Two wardrobes in one room usually work best with clearly separate zones, and children’s closets benefit from adjustable parts that grow with them.
Walk-in, reach-in and everything between
Walk-in closets let you design around an island, a seating spot or a full-length mirror. Reach-in closets need tighter planning because every inch counts, and double hanging, tall shelving and drawers can double the usable capacity.
Odd spaces work too. Under-stair nooks, sloped ceilings and narrow hall closets can often become useful storage with the right combination of shelves and drawers.
Doors are worth a thought as well. Swing doors need clearance, sliding doors limit access to half the opening, and open closets with no doors at all put everything on display. Each choice changes what the interior should look like.
Organization features worth considering
Hanging rods and shelves are the starting point. The details beyond them are what make a closet pleasant to use every morning.
- Drawers with soft-close slides for folded clothes and accessories
- Shoe shelves angled or sized for your actual footwear
- Valet rods, pull-out belt and tie racks, and jewelry trays
- Pull-down rods for high hanging space
- Lighting, including drawer and shelf lighting
- Hampers and laundry sorting built into the cabinetry
Pantry, laundry and utility storage
The same thinking applies beyond bedrooms. A pantry with adjustable shelves and pull-outs keeps food visible and organized. A laundry room with upper cabinets, a folding counter and a spot for supplies makes chores less of a scramble.
If you are redoing the kitchen as well, we can match finishes so the pantry feels like part of the kitchen cabinets.
Mudroom-style storage near a garage or entry works the same way, with hooks, shelves and cubbies sized for backpacks, beach bags and shoes. In a Florida household that sees plenty of sandals and swimwear, a designated place for them keeps the rest of the house tidier.
Materials and climate
Closets are drier than bathrooms, but South Florida humidity still reaches them, especially in rooms on exterior walls or in homes where the air conditioning is set back when no one is home. Finish and material choices can affect how clothes and shelves hold up.
We’ll explain the options during your estimate, including how laminate, painted and wood-look finishes compare for closets. Homes in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and surrounding areas each have different construction styles, and we plan around what we find.
Ventilation is worth checking. A closet with no airflow can trap moisture, so we may suggest vented shelving or panels in certain spots. Fabric and leather items generally do better in a space that breathes.
How the estimate works
After measuring, we provide a written estimate that describes the layout, materials and features. Price depends on closet size, how many drawers and specialty accessories you want, the finish and the installation. We reply within 1 business day to questions, and a free estimate is available before you commit to anything.
